pediatric update

in honor of her first birthday, miss anna headed to dr. dana (they rhyme) for her 12-month checkup this past tuesday.

the doctor was very pleased to hear about all that annie is up to -- her walking, talking and general growth were all deemed excellent.

  • she weighed in at 21 lbs., 1 oz. (+ 1 lb., 2 oz.)
  • she measured 31.25" (+ 2 1/4")
  • and her noggin was 43.5 cm (- 2.5 cm)

well, maybe that last one is a little faulty ... but, at any rate she's growing great. her new stats put her at 40th percentile for weight and 80th for height. hard to believe with legs like hers 60% of girls are heavier than she at their first birthdays, but that's what they tell us.

poor annie also had to submit to a range of abuse ... tb test, blood draw for a complete blood count, and prevnar and mmr vaccines (the same day the lancet retracted any link between mmr and autism!). and although she was quite unhappy about it, by the time we left a bottle was comfort enough that she dropped off to sleep on the car ride home.

the bottle is something we will now start to phase out, after we phase in whole milk and stop her formula. she's also approved for consuming all foods, including a lick of peanut butter and shell fish to test for an allergic reaction.

we returned today, friday, in advance of the snowpocalypse that is poised to bury the area. they read her tb test -- happily she is tuberculosis-free! and annie was pleased she didn't even have to get out of her car seat ... the nurse just pulled up her sleeve right there in the waiting room and we were back on our way ...

and if all goes well, we won't return for another pediatric update until the 15-month appointment in late april/early may.

my girl wants to party all the time

due to snowy weather ... annie's first birthday party (unlike her birth in an ice storm) was postponed a day.

more on all the festivities, but check out our one-year old little lamb

no matter the day or time, she was ready to party!
