jack and annie have been lucky enough to have their friend "sesi" accompanying "mamaxana" this week ...

• on monday, when sesi arrived, annie rejoiced, shrieking with delight
• on monday, when sesi departed, annie got hysterical, crying as though she were being tortured.
• on tuesday, when sesi arrived, annie called for her, "sesi! sesi!" chalk up another word for annie's list ...

who knows what wednesday will hold!?!

weekend update

well ... we were on such a roll. and then a two-week drought. so, here we are with another weekend update. the intervening weekend will just have to be a lost one (but not in the vegas sense). suppose you can tell something about the level of chaos in our lives (or the wax and wane of the mania of the primary author). but no matter ... this weekend's update:

once again, hair wanted cutting. both jack and annie's. but first jack.

he woke up saturday, after having a fever on friday, feeling poorly and crying about a sore throat. so, we took him to the doctor to have a strep test. it came back negative and the verdict was "something viral" and the recommendation was for cold soft foods, like popsicles and ice cream.

so following doctor's orders we headed to starbucks for "shakes." and, between shakes and acetaminophen, jack was sufficiently perked up so that he was ready for the barber shop.

not to be left out ... annie too needed a haircut, so sunday -- after a run to target and a stop at mcdonald's for lunch to soothe some hungry, cranky children -- we went to the chop shop for miss thing too.

we rounded out our weekend with some pool time and family togetherness. ah bliss.

steady on.

weekend update

on a scorching hot weekend, we chose to stay inside for much of it ...

saturday we celebrated nana's birthday with a pancake and fruit fiesta (with whipped cream too, natch).

jack made a pancake man with strawberry eyes, blackberry nose, raspberry ears and pineapple smile. and no, those are not lyrics to a beatles song from sgt. pepper's.

did we mention the whipped cream?

and our girl got messy ...

no, she's not wounded and bleeding ... just very, berry messy!

some time in the wading pool helped us cool off (and clean up).

speaking of cleaning up ... jack decided he wanted to help clean the house on sunday and dusted, mopped and vacuumed his own room.

guess we know how to spend upcoming weekends!
